Our Story

Tombo was founded by Manami and Louis Endo-Sloley in 2010, who were inspired by their love for Japanese green tea and matcha but frustrated by the lack of high-quality options in the UK.

To solve this, they partnered with Maruyama-Seicha, a fourth-generation family-run tea estate in Shizuoka, Japan, which is renowned for growing the finest green tea leaves. This dedication to quality has paid off, with six of their teas winning gold stars at the Great Taste Awards.

The café was designed to promote healthy Japanese living, the wonders of matcha, and Japanese culture in a contemporary, casual style inspired by modern Tokyo. This lead to the café winning Best Rated Restaurant in the 2019 Deliveroo Awards.

In addition to their teas, they also showcase products inspired by the health benefits of shinrin-yoku (forest bathing).
